Project Spotlight

Lance Talking at Crit

Under the direction of Greg Thomas, professor of design in the School of the Architecture, Design and Planning and director of the CDR, students in KU’s new Advanced Design Studies 560 classes » have had the opportunity to create new concepts for development of new products and services. These are most often “blue sky” application, which validated a corporation’s internal direction or a whole new development for positioning the company for the future.

Three of the most recent are:

The redesign of Ford Motor Company's automobile shifters.

The design of a car with the capability of monitoring a driver's blood glucose levels for Bayer HealthCare.

Research into new markets for Sprint Velocity, a telecommunications system that allows wireless communications anytime, anywhere.

See the links in the lefthand column for profiles of each project.
